I finished my thorns and spikes inspired piece over the weekend and got some pictures taken of it today. A few years ago I experimented with using a layer of aluminum window screen inside my quilts along with batting to give some ability to sculpt. This material quilted fine, but the resulting scrapes all over my hands jumped right into my mind as soon as this thorns and spikes call came out. And what better shape to evoke that aggravating stinging feeling you get from a thousand tiny shallow cuts than red tongues of flame. The flames are painted velvet with aluminum window screen inside, and exposed as spiky thorns around the edges!

I am anxious to see the texture of this one in person. I love the color.
